Unsung Missionary Heroes

The compassion of a family is best exemplified in observing how the children care for their aging parents and grandparents.

The Society of the Divine Word missionaries is a large religious family of some six thousand international members working in more than sixty countries. The success of our Divine Word family can only be attributed to God’s blessing and the self-sacrifice of our active missionaries, dedicated to making this world a little bit better. Even though health issues may slow them down or incapacitate them completely because of heart or stroke issues, they never really retire. Many can celebrate Holy Mass and all continue to pray for people who are without hope because of their need for food and clothing.

Because of what these veteran missionaries have accomplished in their many years of unselfish service, our Divine Word family continues to express our gratitude, love and compassion by caring for their physical, spiritual and medical needs, regardless of costs. For us, expense is never a consideration as we vividly recall their dedicated service.

What a beautiful gesture it would be, if even in a small way you felt the desire to help one of these unsung missionary heroes in the evening of his life.
