Job Training Can Make a Difference

Written by Guy Vaccaro

Rodrigo Gomez grew up without a father. “Everything for me was kind of hard because I had to figure out stuff on my own.”

Rodrigo_Gomez_Job_Training_Story.jpg“I was looking for jobs, and somebody came up to me and told me there was a job training program here at St. Elizabeth’s that would help prepare me for a job.

SVD Father Bob Kelly introduced me to the executive director of the program. At that point right there, that was when my whole life changed. I needed to make some money, so I could support my family, including my mom. I am trying to make something of myself and be successful in life. Since I received the job training through St. Elizabeth’s and found employment, everything has been going good.”

We know you care deeply about those who are unable to find work to support their families.

That is why we are happy to tell you that your gift is helping provide job training to people like Rodgrigo. He has a one-year old daughter and is now able to put food on the table because you supported St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church in Chicago through your gift to the Society. This SVD parish hosts the job training program that provided the skills he needed to enter the work force.

Afflicted with asthma, his mother is unable to work. He put a roof over her head by learning the employment skills that your gift ultimately made possible.

On behalf of Rodrigo and his entire family, we are ever grateful for your support.
