New Water Wells Bring Hope to Villages in Africa

Through the compassionate "Water for Africa" initiative, 150 anniversary celebration initiative of SVD Polish Province, four new deep-water wells have been established across Benin, transforming the lives of thousands by replacing contaminated puddles and distant, drying streams with a reliable source of clean, safe water for families and local farmers.

Thanks to the incredible compassion of our benefactors and the "Water for Africa" initiative by the Divine Word Missionaries, four new deep-water wells are now bringing life and health to communities across Benin. While we often take a glass of clean water for granted, for these four villages, it is a miracle that has changed everything.

A Gift of Life Across Benin

In the village of Dabou, near Parakou, families no longer have to collect water from rain puddles or sharing muddy ponds with livestock. Today, they have a reliable source of clean water that serves as a beautiful monument of gratitude from a parish in Poland.

This project, funded by a devoted family from Olsztyn, means that children in Kadolassi can grow up healthy, free from the waterborne illnesses that once plagued their community.

In N’djakada, a village of over 2,000 people, the demand for water was so high that one well simply wasn't enough. Thanks to a generous anonymous donor, a second well has been completed. This means the women and girls of the Kabiye tribe no longer have to walk miles to a drying stream, giving them back hours of their day for education and family.

Finally, in the central Beninese village of Sonaholou, a new well is supporting 1,000 residents of the Lokpa tribe. Beyond drinking and washing, this water supports their local livelihoods—from farming to the traditional production of shea butter and gari.

Thank You to Our Benefactors
