Acts of Kindness

Heart_in_Hand.pngThe Power of One Act of Kindness

A 13-year-old boy who read about Dr. Albert Schweitzer’s work in Africa decided to help. He had enough money to buy one bottle of aspirin. He sent it to the U.S. Air Force, asking if they could drop a bottle on Dr. Schweitzer by flying over his hospital.

The boy became famous, and many people decided to support this action. In the end, 4.5 tons of medical supplies worth $400,000 were sent to Schweitzer Hospital; today that would be the equivalent of millions of dollars!

When Dr. Schweitzer heard the story, he said, “I never would have thought that one child could do so much.”

Small acts of kindness can create a ripple effect. When someone witnesses a random act of kindness, they are more likely to adopt a similar helpful behavior. This creates a positive cycle where one kind of action inspires others to continue spreading goodness and seemingly insignificant gestures become a significant difference on another's life.

No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.  Aesop
